Three exciting performances to choose from:
Hands Across The Sea and Ways and Means by Noël Coward (Duration 25 and 35 minutes)
In Hands Across The Sea, it is 1935 and Lady Maureen Gilpin has just returned from a world tour of the British Territories. The phone is ringing off the hook and friends are expected to dinner, but not before a friend from Lady Gilpin's travels calls in unexpectedly for a visit. The only trouble is, Lady Gilpin is damned if she can remember who she is, or where in the world she met her... A gorgeously affectionate comedy of manners.
Ways and Means is set on the French Riviera in the 1930s; heiress Stella and her gambling husband Toby find themselves plagued by debt and embarrassment while staying with friends at their holiday villa. On the verge of outstaying their welcome and having their reputations completely destroyed, a scandalous chauffeur ends up being the means of saving their honour.
Bell, Book and Candle by John Van Druten (Duration 60 minutes)
One of Van Druten's greatest dramatic successes and the precursor to Bewitched, Bell, Book and Candle tells the story of Gillian Holroyd: a chic, city-dwelling witch who sets her sights on the handsome man next door. But falling in love means losing her powers... a delicious romantic comedy with a magical twist!
Voice of the Turtle by John Van Druten (Duration 50 minutes)
Sally and Olive are two friends living the (not so) glamorous lives of struggling actresses in 1940s London. Whilst promiscuous Olive fills her life with frivolous affairs and beautiful men, Sally spends her time studying roles she will never get to play and falling miserably in love with influential producers. Olive has a date planned with Sergeant Bill Page but at the last minute gets a better offer and chooses to stand him up. Sally and Bill, two complete strangers, find themselves bound together for a whole weekend; one they are unlikely to ever forget. Gorgeously beguiling and sweetly sincere.
